Gretchen Whitmer, the incumbent governor of Michigan, triumphs in the election.

Democratic incumbent Governor Gretchen Whitmer has won the campaign for governor of Michigan, according to the Associated Press.

Republican rival Tudor Dixon lost to Whitmer after announcing earlier in the evening that she would hold off on declaring victory until after more votes had been tabulated in crucial counties like Kent and Macomb.

Abortion rights had been the focus of Whitmer's campaign. That and other important social issues became the focal point of the race during the last debate of the governor's race.

Even while Democrats outspent the Republican opponent in the final weeks before Election Day, surveys revealed that the race was becoming more competitive.

On Wednesday morning, Republican Tudor Dixon issued a statement expressing his defeat:

"This morning, I gave Governor Whitmer a call to apologize and offer my best wishes.

Future success of Michigan depends on all of us, not on elected people or the government. It is our collective responsibility to support law enforcement, develop our economy, and assist our kids with reading.

We appreciate the efforts of all of our volunteers and supporters in building a better Michigan. We were unsuccessful, but we will continue to fight for our family."

A hoax propagated by former President Donald Trump, Dixon previously placed doubt on the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

Review of the Ravens' 27-13 victory over the Saints in Week 9 now.

The Baltimore Ravens, who were 5-3 heading into Week 9, finished the week with a commanding 27-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints on "Monday Night Football," improving their record to 6-3. Baltimore got off to a fast start and won the game by playing solid football for the majority of the game.

Lamar Jackson, the game's quarterback, completed 12-of-22 passes for 133 yards and one touchdown while rushing 11 times for an additional 82 yards. He completed the task despite missing a few passes where the pass catcher was wide open. Kenyan Drake, a running back, had 24 attempts for 92 yards and two scores, while tight end Isaiah Likely, who already had one touchdown, added to it with a trip into the end zone.

Outside linebacker Justin Houston, who played on defense, was the star of the show with 2.5 sacks and an interception. Gary's ACL MRI results are awaited by the Green Bay Packers, and Doubs is out with a high-ankle sprain.

The Green Bay Packers are awaiting the findings of Rashan Gary's MRI on Monday to see whether the outside linebacker tore his ACL after leaving Detroit on crutches, a source confirmed.

By 8 a.m. on Monday, Gary's results were still pending, the insider told PackersNews. The insider claimed that it is impossible to confirm a torn ACL until they are.

According to NFL Network, Gary tore his right ACL on Monday morning. The early worries regarding an ACL tear were initially covered by ESPN.

A ruptured ACL would be a devastating blow to the Packers defense if it were verified. Gary, who has developed into an NFL standout in just his fourth season, is their top pass defender. Gary burst for six sacks in the first six games of the season despite failing to sack the quarterback in the previous three contests.

Romeo Doubs, a rookie receiver, suffers a high ankle sprain, according to PackersNews. As is typical for such an accident, he is anticipated to miss a few weeks. The news was initially reported by NFL Network.

Toure's Stunning Catch Saved the Packers' Season

In the dying seconds of the Green Bay Packers' loss to the Detroit Lions, Samori Toure made a challenging catch to convert a fourth-and-2.

Aaron Rodgers had few options on Sunday against the Detroit Lions because the Green Bay Packers were in a desperate situation. Romeo Doubs was hurt during the game's opening play. Concussion testing was being done on Christian Watson. Rodgers turned to Samori Toure because Sammy Watkins was once more ineffective and Randall Cobb was placed on injured reserve.

Definitely, I had some shaky throws, Rodgers admitted.

Dan Campbell, the head coach of the Lions, handed Aaron Glenn, the defensive coordinator, the game ball. Even though the Packers crossed midfield on each of their true possessions, his defense, which had been on pace to allow the most points in NFL history, managed to limit them to just one touchdown.

Campbell remarked, "Man, it's a heck of a job." "Coaches gave it everything he had, like he always does, and those boys came through. Today we knew we needed takeout. They rose up in that defense, man. We played aggressively, in my opinion. We did, in my opinion, pose a perimeter problem. Look, we were involved in the fight during some of their plays, and that is all you can ask for. We are involved. We are involved. They attempted to make a play, sure, but we really made them work for it and we were able to hold them off. And I believe it's essential for our defense to make the winning stop in the very last second.

The Chiefs' Defense

The Chiefs' defense turned things around in the second half to defeat the Titans.

The Kansas City defense buckled down to prevent Tennessee's scoring after a poor second quarter.

The Kansas City Chiefs were conceding a touchdown, the second of the Tennessee Titans' first three drives, just a few plays after running back Derrick Henry gained 56 yards on a rush for the Tennessee Titans midway in the second quarter. This gave Tennessee an early 14-9 lead.

The Titans had already created gains of 16 or more yards on six different plays at that time, hammering Kansas City's defense in a number of different ways.

However, they turned out to be Tennessee's final significant plays of the evening. From that point on, the Titans were only able to score three more scores against the Kansas City defense, and even those came on a short field following a turnover. The main contributing factor was their modification to close out big-play chances.

After the game, defensive tackle Khalen Saunders told reporters, "All you can do is try to restrict the explosives." "I believe that in the first half, he had like two major ones there... We entered the locker room at halftime and said, "If we stop that," you can see how it kind of restricts the situation. I therefore felt satisfied exiting the half to obtain those stops.

Henry had only 27 rushing yards after the Titans' second touchdown, and quarterback Malik Willis had already accumulated nearly half of his passing yards at that point. After the Chiefs' defense cleared the field, Tennessee's offensive effort was effectively stifled.

Linebacker Nick Bolton said, "We were sort of knocked the rust off [after coming] off the bye week." "Our tackling was a touch sloppy to begin with. We occasionally had poor fits, which occasionally resulted in frenzied runs.

We managed to calm down and refocus on playing Chiefs defense and preventing the run. We managed to have a far better second half.

The Chiefs stopped every big play the Titans attempted, either with a wall of defenders to stop a run or a single defender to stop a pass. Really, Tennessee only required one, particularly on a third down late in the game. The Titans had an eight-point advantage at that time and were in danger of increasing it.

That was the overarching concept of the turnaround, according to the linebacker.

Bolton insisted, "We executed down the stretch." In the previous 40 minutes, I don't believe they had a single first down. We were able to stop them on first down and drive them into second-and-long situations, which allowed our pass rush and corners to do their jobs.

In the fourth quarter and overtime, the pass rush did start to pick up the pace, recording three sacks. The defensive line for Kansas City sacked the quarterback on two of the final three plays of the game, but not all the typical suspects were involved. These pivotal plays involved defensive end Carlos Dunlap and linebacker Khalen Saunders.

After the game, Dunlap noted, "We shared the riches." "We have a lot of depth here, and we have a lot of playmakers among our guys. As you can see, everyone pitched in and took on the necessary roles; we shared the wealth and did whatever was necessary.

It feels fantastic to finish off a victory in such a manner, especially in a close game.

Chris Jones, a defensive tackle, remarked, "We had a lot of young people rise up." "Khalen Saunders made a bunch of key plays tonight. Malik Herring, George Karlaftis, and then Carlos. Therefore, there is a lot of depth and young men in the room.

The Chiefs' defenders felt they would need to match a good defensive effort from their opponent because their own attack was going up against a formidable Titans defense. Up until the very last few seconds of the fourth quarter, Kansas City's offense could only muster nine points.

Bolton said, "We kind of knew going into the game we had to outplay their defense. We didn't do that during the first half, he said. We were able to come out in the second half, execute, and play better than their defense, which contributed to our victory.

American country music singer-songwriter Alan Jackson was one of the most well-known male country musicians of the 1990s and the early 2000s. He was born in Newnan, Georgia, on October 17, 1958.

Jackson sang in a country duo as a teenager while growing up in a small town in Georgia. After quitting school and getting married to Denise, his high school sweetheart, Jackson did odd jobs and performed with his band, Dixie Steel. Jackson's demo tape helped him get a songwriting deal with Campbell's music publishing company in 1985 after flight attendant Denise ran into country musician Glen Campbell in an airport. After that, the couple relocated to Nashville.

Jackson joined with Arista Records' country division for the first time in 1989, the same year that album, Here in the Real World, was released. Its popular title song, which Jackson co-wrote with Mark Irwin, cemented the singer's reputation as a songwriter of songs that speak candidly about the benefits of rural and small-town life, the whims of love, and the importance of the traditions of country music passed down from forebears like George Jones and Hank Williams. With honky-tonk-inspired albums like Don't Rock the Jukebox (1991), A Lot About Livin' (And a Little 'Bout Love) (1992), which included the hit single "Chattahoochee," and Who I Am (1993), Jackson enjoyed additional success (1994).

Jackson, a conservative in his musical style, joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1991, and in his 1999 CD Under the Influence, which included his interpretations of songs by Merle Haggard, Charley Pride, and Gene Watson, he acknowledged his roots. Along with Jones, George Strait, Randy Travis, and Jimmy Buffett, Jackson collaborated on recordings as well.

Jackson produced a song that captures the variety of responses to the events of September 11, 2001, in response to the tragedy of the attacks. The song "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" went on to win a Grammy Award for best country song in addition to honors for song of the year from the Country Music Association (CMA) and the Academy of Country Music (ACM). Along with "Drive (for Daddy Gene)," which was dedicated to Jackson's father, the song was included on his tenth studio album, Drive (2002).

Jackson released two albums in 2006, Precious Memories, a compilation of 15 hymns, and the tender Like Red on a Rose, both of which were predominately composed by other people. His ongoing popularity was proved by later albums including Good Time (2008), Thirty Miles West (2012), The Bluegrass Album (2013), and Angels and Alcohol (2015). In 2010, he collaborated with the Zac Brown Band on the song "As She's Walking Away," which won a Grammy in 2011 for best country collaboration with vocals. Among Jackson's numerous professional honors is the CMA Award for Entertainer of the Year, which she won in 1995, 2002, and 2003. He was also admitted in 2017 to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

What Dead By Daylight tries to do with horror—and fails at

The most popular multiplayer horror game right now is Dead by Daylight, but how does it fare in terms of design and monetization?

It's taken me a while to finally load up Dead by Daylight; partly because I was playing Back 4 Blood and partly because the nasty community has given me nightmares. But after some more time passed and I opted to ignore all chat, I made the decision to hop in and explore what one of the more innovative multiplayer horror games had to offer. DBD distinguishes itself as a singular experience... But what will that nightmare set you back?

The core gameplay mechanic in DBD is asymmetrical multiplayer. Four survivors and one murderer are released into two teams, which are on a procedurally generated map. As the survivors, you must fix five generators, make your way out of the building via a hatch or an exit door, and avoid being shot. It is your responsibility as the killer to find the survivors, sacrifice them on hooks repeatedly till they die, and prevent them from fleeing.

The gameplay has changed since the game's initial release in 2016 beyond the original survivors and killers. There are currently 32 DLC items available, numerous cross-promotions with other games and well-known franchises, a battle pass system, and a store (which I'll discuss further down).

What sets DBD apart from other online horror games, including its then-closest rival: the 13th of February How much use they have made of two fundamental gaming cycles together is the game. Whether you are playing in your first game or your 500th, neither the actions of either side nor the outcome of the match alter. 

As a survivor, you must become proficient in skill tests as well as movement on the map, avoiding the killer, and responding to the killer's discovery. Each killer possesses a special power in addition to the same fundamental skills. The many killers have a similar effect to a MOBA's champions in that the player must essentially relearn how to play each time they switch to a new one.

I recently played Back 4 Blood, and I made a note in my review on how the introduction of live service design has altered the development in games like this. The comprehensive progression and monetization systems in Dead by Daylight, which has been out for more than five years, demonstrate how commercialization has changed.

Bloody Advancement

In terms of progression being fixed, it is simple to presume that DBD is similar to the first Left 4 Deads, although the game leans more toward long-form progression. Every killer and survivor has access to three unique "perks" in the system. These benefits come in a wide variety of forms; for example, one survivor may have free healing without access to medicine kits, while another may receive free release from a bond.

Players must use "blood points" at the "bloodweb" to obtain these benefits. The equivalent of universal experience points in DBD are blood points. For each character level, the game randomly generates a bloodweb with a variety of rewards. You might see a benefit you like right away or you might have to advance through many levels. The character is fixed to receive all awards unlocked on the bloodweb.

Before each match, you can also equip addons, equipment, and offerings in addition to perks. Killer and survivor item addons are unique to their respective attachments and boost a certain component of their skills or goods. Items for survivors give them the ability to perform tasks more effectively or with ease throughout a play. Offerings can be used by both parties to alter the forthcoming game in a way that benefits their respective team. There are a few loopholes in this system, though. After a match, any add-ons or offerings utilized will be gone, so you'll need to search your bloodweb for more of them. Items only hold a certain amount of charge before they are destroyed.

If you level up your character sufficiently as a murderer or survivor, you will be able to equip up to four different perks and have your perk(s) potentially appear on the bloodwebs of other players. High-level gaming is supposed to be all about combining several perks to best suit your ability and the capabilities of the character you play. This option is fantastic for rewarding players who play several characters over the long term, but it also raises concerns about how the game will be made profitable.

The most terrifying of all the horrors in Pay to Scare Dead by Daylight is the terror of capitalism. Let's go down the list of components because the developers have incorporated many of the monetization and design methods that have been observed in mobile and free-to-play design since the game's release:

• It still needs to be purchased in stores.
• Daily missions in the game can be completed to gain more blood points.
• Seasonal challenges are available, and a battle pass can be purchased for more rewards.
• a store where players may purchase cosmetics, benefits, and characters in-game
• There are two other currencies in addition to blood points, one of which is used at the shop.
• DLC purchases of fresh material chapters
• A recent dispute about the developer's entry into NFTs for their most current chapter

The DLC model is the one that potential customers are most interested in. The various DLCs are packaged and marketed as individual "chapters" of the game. A new map, a new survivor with exclusive benefits, a new killer with exclusive benefits, and cosmetics for both can all be found in one chapter. Due to the competitive nature of the game, maps are always included for free and are available to all players.

Using the in-game cash, you can "earn" characters and killers for free, but it's that same "free" that got For Honor into problems. Yes, you can accumulate the cash over time, but doing so may require playing the game for weeks or months as opposed to paying for it immediately. DBD does tilt toward the pay-to-win side of monetization because of its design, but there's more.

Sodium Horror

As I previously stated, once characters reach a certain level, their advantages become transferrable to other characters. Due to the competitive nature of the game, there is a substantial metagame on the best perks, characters to play, and killers to utilize, among other topics. For gamers that stick with it, you'll reach the point where those bonuses, extras, and items truly impact whether you're a murderer or a survivor. Both sides accuse the other of "cheating" or "playing toxic" depending on what they bring to a match, how they play, etc. This is also where the toxic behavior and character of the community enter the picture.

What I do know is that in DBD, the more money you spend, the more advantages you have over other players. Blood points cannot be bought, but there are more characters, which means there are more perks to experiment with. Character- or killer-specific battle pass challenges are possible, and of course, you can pay money to upgrade your battle pass for more benefits.

When it comes to the playable characters, DBD faces the same issue that any long-tail character-based game does over time: later content is generally superior to or more interesting than the original. In comparison to the original killers, newer ones have more powers that can change the course of a game, like Nemesis from Resident Evil, who spawns with his own zombie squad that can aid you in a match. Since it's normal for newer goods to get more work done to it as developers get more confident in their designs and attempt to make them more desirable to purchase, this problem lacks a real solution.

We frequently don't see those changes in live service games because attempting to alter any of the game systems at this time would render the game unplayable for all players.

F2P Worries

Although the concept and overall gameplay of DBD are fantastic, I am having a lot of difficulties playing it as a live service game right now. It doesn't appear to be designed with a new player's experience in mind. Both the perpetrator and the survivors had a hard time finding suitable partners. The game is also hampered by both factions' onboarding. As with any live service game, the game's basic tutorials make no mention of the new rules, techniques, or overall approach of play.

I have no understanding what the various status diseases do, how the game is structured, how the various killers operate, etc. Watching youtubers taught me more about the game than the tutorial. Even so, it's rather bland in terms of going into information about the game. The game's manual is a "blink and you'll miss it" on the tutorial page. With the new survivor perks and killer powers, the entire tutorial really ought to have been updated by now.

Speaking of killer powers, there doesn't appear to be any actual instruction on how to use them or a method to test out new killers outside of private games, assuming you already own them. The bloodweb, levels, and other features make it clear that the game is built for long-term advancement, but the immediate goal doesn't seem as compelling. The bloodweb is very much a "loot box" sort of progression rather than requiring players to make significant decisions because it is about random unlocks. Despite having a variety of mobile and free-to-play features, DBD, in my opinion, performs a poorer job at guiding players through loops and systems than some other mobile games I've experienced. The "learn as you go" method of onboarding was chosen by the creators, but it doesn't work when "learn as you go" implies "haphazardly squander all your blood points." There are many benefits that I don't know how they work or why I should spend money on them.

Another thing is that, as a sort of competition, I don't like games that deliberately make the UI and gameplay worse. When acting as a murderer, the field of vision is locked, making it difficult to see details. Even with my volume set louder than in any other game, I can hardly hear where the survivors are, and that's without taking into account the advantages that allow them to conceal their footfall.

The DBD experience is obviously made to prioritize its monetization and DLC above all else, from the perspective of both new players and "gamer on a budget." I'm shocked the game doesn't implement the "weekly rotation" that MOBAs employ, which enables players to temporarily use a champion that costs money but is otherwise paid for. Only Huntress stood out to me among the four beginning murderers, and I would have liked to see what the other three are capable of. The bloodweb system, which is simply a lootbox for every single character you choose to play, is not to my taste. I believe that for more meaningful decisions, a smaller experience pool that was character/killer specific would have been preferable.

Another thing that surprises me is the lack of a playable mode in a game with such a strong competitive element.

The player's dilemma, which I've observed in numerous competitive games, is Dead By Daylight's main issue. Many novice players will give up in frustration as they go through the challenges of trying to understand and enjoy the game. As a result, the developers' efforts to try and engage new players with mechanisms are largely ineffective, leaving the high-level players to mainly fight and argue with one other. Additionally, this causes a problem for mid-tier players seeking to advance and locate other players of a similar skill level to play with. There is a very huge limit on how far I can play and enjoy being a killer or survivor in the game because I don't use add-ons and don't want to depend on consumables to win. I would have to play for hours on end and spend money to gain the other killers and bloodpoints required to mix and match in order to make up for it with perks.

Additionally, this makes it unbalanced in terms of who has an advantage in competitive play. The matchmaking rating (or MMR) and the fact that you lose add-ons after each match add to your irritation (there is an offering that reduces the chances of that happening). So, losing a game where you put your best add-ons to work is really frustrating. According to what I've observed and experienced, low-level play occurs when the killer is in it to win; high-level play occurs when the survivor is in it to win. Because survivors have many more advantages than killers do, killer add-ons can make up for this and, in many cases, change the game.

It's unfortunate that the developers of Fear and Loathing Dead by Daylight appear to be forcing its commercialization at the expense of the experience given the positive reception and accolades the game receives for its design and variety of gameplay. Warframe and Path of Exile are still at the top of the heap when it comes to long-tail free-to-play games and figuring out profitable business models that keep players engaged.

I believe I could elaborate more fully on the following two lessons in separate posts:

1. It is best to set up the systems for monetization as early in the game's development as feasible; you do not want to add or modify them once the game has been released.
2. How to research the onboarding process and how to make mobile games approachable for new players

In terms of this architecture, I'm interested to see who will try to challenge DBD or if the entity will prevail. Despite having made a purchase, the design and worldbuilding are fascinating, but when I consider trying to play it again, I'm turned off by how closely everything is related to the game's commercialization and free-to-play model; I would only think about playing again if I could acquire the killer expansion pack during a significant deal so that I could try them out.

WHERE DOES DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME APPEAR?

With a few exceptions, the majority of the United States and Canada observe DST on the same dates. According to NASA, the only U.S. states that don't observe daylight saving time are Hawaii and Arizona, but the Navajo Nation, located in northeastern Arizona, does.

The Sunshine Protection Act(opens in new tab), which was passed by the Senate but is currently stuck in the house, was the subject of congressional debate in 2022. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, state legislatures have debated at least 450 legislation to implement year-round daylight savings time (opens in new tab). Additionally, as of 2020, legislation to permanently replace DST with standard time had been proposed in at least 30 states. For instance, Florida's Senate and House passed the Sunshine Protection Act in 2018, which would have asked the U.S. Congress to exempt the state from the federal 1966 Uniform Time Act (a PDF of the proposal). Florida would continue to observe DST year-round if adopted. However, The New York Times reports that the United States Congress would need to change the Uniform Time Act (15 U.S.C. s. 260a) to permit states this allowance in order to permit Florida's year-round DST. The proposal has not yet been approved by Congress, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel (opens in new tab). Similar steps have been taken by fifteen other states through legislation, initiatives, and resolutions. According to a statement from the office of U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, these states are: Arkansas, Alabama, California, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming (R–Fla.).

California voted in favor of Proposition 7, which sought to repeal the yearly clock adjustments, by a margin of 59% in the fall of 2018. With a two-thirds majority following that favorable vote, the state assembly might modify DST (the resulting change needs to meet federal law as well). Recently, "I'm World" aired an episode on Aotearoa's objective of obtaining 100% renewable electricity.

It's interesting to note that neither fossil fuels nor renewable energy sources received the most comments. It dealt with nuclear energy.

One listener, Derek, commented: "Your essay was fascinating, but made no mention of nuclear fusion, [which] will be the ultimate solution to replace fossil fuel fired power generation for the entire world."

The same point was made by Andrew, another listener: "[Nuclear power] is the lowest carbon intensity, according to IPCC studies... but persona non grata in New Zealand?"

The idea of nuclear power is intriguing on a global scale, but less so for New Zealand.

Once a plant is open and running, its greenhouse gas emissions are actually very low (it's important to note that nuclear plants have significant 'overheads,' both financially and in terms of carbon emissions, as they need a lot of concrete and other materials).

Nuclear reactors reliably and economically produce the base level of electricity.

However, they are viewed as dangerous, which is somewhat understandable given that nuclear power was discovered in an effort to produce the most destructive weapon ever made and that Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima are still fresh in people's minds.

Recent fighting near the Ukrainian nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia frightened onlookers who thought a stray rocket could cause another nuclear meltdown.

When asked about the conflict in Ukraine, nuclear physicist David Krofcheck of the University of Auckland gives a full-on facepalm.

"My request to my Russian and Ukrainian friends is that you refrain from firing at the nuclear reactors."

But according to Krofcheck, the concerns that many people have about the threat that nuclear power poses are not always accurate predictions of the world in 2022.

"There is always a need to exercise caution, but when I consider all the energy that has been produced plus the diagnostic spinoffs, energy generation...

That, in my opinion, is more accurate than the justifiably frightening and terrifying occurrences involving the nuclear power facilities at Fukushima and Chernobyl.

The majority of people probably don't want to hear that, but in my opinion, those were the outliers and not the trend.

According to Krofcheck, nuclear energy is created when a heavy nucleus, such as uranium, is induced to split into two lighter pieces, releasing a significant amount of energy.

Water is heated by that energy, which causes it to boil and produce steam, which rotates a turbine and generates power.

According to Krofcheck, "Nuclear power is basically an enormously clever technique to boil water."

Of fact, nuclear facility mishaps can have catastrophic results: the Chernobyl disaster rendered more than 2500 square kilometers of land unusable and may be responsible for thousands of people's early deaths.

However, proponents of nuclear energy may legitimately point out that difficulties resulting from air pollution generated by burning fossil fuels result in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people each year.

"In the two situations we're discussing, you construct a reactor a la the Soviet Union that has since been entirely shut down or extensively redesigned, and you have to be careful where you site them. Perhaps constructing a nuclear power plant in an earthquake prone area is not the best idea.

"I believe it is the price to be paid for the steady energy foundation that societies seek to have."

According to Krofcheck, nuclear power won't likely be required in New Zealand in the near future because there are plenty of ways for us to produce renewable electricity, including hydro, wind, and solar power, as well as large geothermal deposits.

Furthermore, building a large-scale nuclear power plant requires a significant financial investment and a genuine requirement for baseline generation.

There is also the matter of public opinion. New Zealand's nuclear-free policy is still vivid in people's minds and, in a way, contributes to our nation's independence on the international stage.

According to Krofcheck, this could change when nuclear reactors become smaller and more sophisticated methods of handling nuclear waste, which is now housed on-site in barrels, are developed.

The decision was made after a week of ambiguity regarding the company's future under Elon Musk's ownership.

In an email to employees, the social media business promised to inform them of any personnel reductions by Friday at 9 a.m. Pacific time (12 p.m. EDT/1600 GMT).

"On Friday, we will begin the challenging process of decreasing our global staff in an effort to put Twitter on a sound course."

Musk, the richest man in the world, wants to lay off nearly 3,700 Twitter employees, or almost half the workforce, in an effort to reduce costs and impose a rigorous new work culture. 

According to posts from Twitter employees on Friday, the content moderation staff of the firm is anticipated to be a target of the cuts. Musk has pledged to protect free expression from turning into a "hellscape" while restoring it.

A request for comment from Twitter did not immediately receive a response.

Using the hashtag #OneTeam, Twitter employees expressed their anger about the layoffs on the social media platform.

An inquiry for comment from Roth was not answered.

In the email, Twitter stated that all credential access would be suspended and that its offices would be temporarily closed in order "to help safeguard the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data."

On Friday, the business' Piccadilly Circus, London, location seemed empty and there were no signs of any employees.

Inside, there was no sign that the social media juggernaut had ever occupied the space. Security personnel declined to speak further but stated that renovations were under progress.

His performance on Thursday was not the best statistically in the NFL, but it was essential to the Eagles' closer-than-expected victory. He had eight catches for 100 yards and one touchdown. It seems like the Eagles called for that play to that man in numerous high-stakes scenarios in this game, and Goedert has been a screen machine this season. That was most definitely the case in Week 9. He continued to deliver. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith both had very quiet nights, so the Eagles' offense was propelled by Miles Sanders' running and the screen pass to Goedert.

Offensive Rookie of the Year favorite Dameon Pierce. Pierce should be at the very top of your list because no quarterbacks are having successful first NFL seasons, and OROY favorite Breece Hall is out for the year. Pierce had a difficult game against the Titans on Sunday, but he quickly got back on track, setting career highs for rushing yards (139) and carries (27). The Eagles attempted to gang up on Pierce without wide receivers Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins in action, but Pierce still found ways to outpace and bounce off Eagles would-be tacklers for additional yards after contact. He might not be the league's most exciting running back, and his receiving skills are still developing. But Pierce, who has a promising future with the squad, is unquestionably the team's bell cow. The Texans scored big in the fourth round, but Pierce might have moved up had Florida given him more than 100 carries in 13 games the previous year. (It might also have preserved Dan Mullen's employment.)

The underrated addition from the offseason was C.J. Gardner-Johnson. When Gardner-Johnson was shockingly traded from the Saints to the Eagles on August 31, it was reasonable to wonder how long it could take him to get used to the system and his new teammates. The response is roughly six weeks. He started and participated in almost every defensive action for the Eagles in the first month of the season without incident. But recently, his importance to this defense has skyrocketed. Gardner-Johnson now has five interceptions, which puts him in first place in the NFL, after his diving grab of Davis Mills on Thursday. He had five interceptions in his first 47 NFL games, and he's added five more in his last four contests. It wouldn't be a leap to say that he has been one of the top Eagles defenders over the previous four games if you include the sack he recorded last week against the Steelers.

Javon Hargrave has recently been on a sack binge. Even though Mills wasn't the fastest runner, Hargrave had to go a considerable distance on his first sack to pursue Mills and make a significant third-down stop. The Texans were driving at midfield when No. 2 also arrived on third down and crushed rookie guard Kenyon Green of the Texans to take down Mills for a loss. A 9-yard loss on the third play forced the Texans out of the end zone and stopped their momentum while the outcome of the game was still in question. Although Hargrave was given a roughing-the-passer call, it felt at most marginal. The basic reason is that he has been on a tear lately. Last week, he beat the Steelers (who declined to re-sign him) in retaliation and then destroyed Kenny Pickett for good measure. Hargrave has now recorded six sacks for the season, including five in the last two games. He is one of the top interior penetrators in the game and is making a strong midseason push for the Pro Bowl.

Jordan Davis was missed by the Eagles. The Eagles' interior run defense was quite porous, if there was one significant criticism of their performance on Thursday night. There was a good reason the team used a first-round pick on Davis, a mass of humanity whose effect cannot be quantified by statistics like tackles (14), tackles for loss (one), or sacks (zero), but by filling up two holes with his size and strength. On Thursday, they got a fairly decent idea of just how much Davis means, especially for a player who was averaging 22 snaps per game. The Eagles understood they had to run the ball a lot against the Texans because of their severe receiver shortage, but Houston consistently found success running inside. The earliest Davis could play again after suffering an ankle injury was Week 13 against the Titans. The Eagles had best come up with some alternate strategies during the mini-bye as they will be facing some pretty talented backs between now and then.

Next Gen stat of the game: When Davis Mills and Chris Moore connected for a 13-yard touchdown for the Texans, Mills was moving at 16.04 mph when he released the ball, which is the third-fastest pace by a quarterback on a TD pass this season.
