Rain disrupted Bangladesh's batting during the chase after half-centuries by Virat Kohli and K. L. Rahul helped India narrowly defeat Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup Super 12 game.

With an edge-of-your-seat five-run victory over Bangladesh in a game that was postponed due to rain here on Wednesday, India moved closer to the T20 World Cup semifinals thanks to a brilliant performance by a revitalized KL Rahul and divine intervention from the weather gods.

India achieved an impressive total of 184 for 6 thanks to Virat Kohli (64 not out off 44) and K. L. Rahul (50 off 32), but little did they anticipate Litton Das would soon strike (60 off 27 balls).

After a brief rainstorm, Bangladesh's revised aim of 151 in 16 overs was needed, but they ultimately reached 145/6. India, who now has six points after four games, must defeat Zimbabwe in their final Super-12 encounter to guarantee a spot in the last four.

Despite being struck for a six and a four by Nurul Hasan in the final over, young Arshdeep Singh maintained his composure and delivered a pair of brilliant yorker length deliveries to break the tie.

To the pleasure of Bangladeshi fans and their partisan media, the heavens opened up just as Bangladesh was coasting along at 66 for no loss in 7 overs.

Following the forced break, Bangladesh had to earn 85 points off of 54 balls to reach the amended target set using the DLS system. The break did have an impact on their momentum, as Rahul got Litton out with a direct throw from deep mid-wicket that will be featured in any highlights reel.

Litton, who deftly played for the rain, was not anticipated by India's coaching staff, much as it did with Mohammed Nawaz during the Asia Cup.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar's first over was unremarkable, but Arshdeep's second over featured the right-hander constantly stepping down the wicket in an attempt to counteract any available swing.

Litton lights up the park

He was all over Arshdeep and Bhuvneshwar in the following few overs as he over-pitched decent length deliveries and lofted them over the infield. Bangladesh's fifty, which took just 21 balls to reach, was among the best in T20Is. Rohit Sharma appeared to be completely lost throughout the 60-run Powerplay overs as Litton played cover drives, pulled, and smashed sixes behind square to control the speed of the deliveries.

Bangladesh had reached 66 for no loss in seven overs and had a 17-run edge on the DLS par score by the time it began to drizzle.

Target lowered

Once the target was smaller, Rahul's brilliant fielding from the deep left Litton at the non-end striker's short of his ground. Prior to Suryakumar Yadav being caught at wide long-on by a mistimed pull off Shami's bowling, Shanto (21 off 25 balls) had a difficult time with timing for the majority of the game.
The rain-soaked outfield made it tough to grasp the ball as Shakib Al Hasan charged towards Ravichandran Ashwin for a handful of boundaries, despite the fact that two wickets went quickly one after the other.

To reverse the course of the game, Arshdeep (2/38 in 4 overs) used his post-rain spell to get the dangerous Afif Hossain caught by Surya and the captain Shakib caught by replacement fielder Deepak Hooda at deep mid-wicket. Yasir Ali and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat were then dismissed by Hardik (2/28 in 3 overs), ending the game.

Kohli reigns once more in Adelaide

Earlier, Kohli resumed his unending love affair with the Adelaide Oval by leading India to a solid total.
In his 44-ball innings, he hit eight fours and a six because none of the Bangladesh bowlers could stop his exquisite stroke-play. The pitch was much slower than it was in Perth, and Bangladesh's bowling attack collapsed under intense strain in the post-Powerplay overs as Rahul (50 off 31 balls), who had his first fifty of the tournament, also found his form.

In order to reach his third fifty-wicket performance in the tournament, Kohli had a pair of productive partnerships: 67 for the second wicket with Rahul and 38 for the third wicket with Suryakumar Yadav (30 off 15 balls). Although Rahul and Surya were taken out by Shakib Al Hasan (2/33 in 4 overs), Taskin was unquestionably the finest bowler in the field.

Rahul avoids bad behavior

Rahul excelled after taking a lot of heat during the previous three games. He made his typical "pick-up pull-shot," a whip shot off the wrists from behind square that nets a six.
Following the cheap dismissal of captain Rohit, Kohli used some quick footwork between the wickets to relieve Taskin of some of the initial burden.
After the Powerplay was complete, Rahul abruptly upped the ante by hitting a short-arm pull over deep mid-wicket and a slash over backward point for two maximums in one over from Shoriful. It took Rahul 20 balls to score his first 21 runs.

Shoriful's ninth over resulted in 24 runs, which entirely relieved the burden on the Indian batsmen.
Before his 31-ball-50 came to an end when an attempted lap shot hit the top-edge and Mustafizur grabbed a well-timed catch off skipper Shakib's bowling, Rahul scored his next 29 runs off 10 balls.
At the other end, Kohli smashed a flurry of boundaries, including one off Mustafizur and the finest of the bunch, an off-drive that can be replayed as many times as you like.
As soon as the stage was set for him, Suryakumar delivered a spectacular comeback before Shakib's arm-ball broke through his defense.
Kohli, however, persisted in attacking from one end to lead India to a score above average.
